A few posts back, I told you about the Mi TV Lux Transparent Edition which is a true gift of innovation and technology. If you haven’t read the post, you can click here and read all about it now. This Mi TV is based on OLED technology and has all the amazing features that you can imagine.

Powered by a MediaTek TV SoC, the best part about this TV is its amazing display that is actually a transparent glass screen when you switch it off. And by transparent, it literally means that you can see through the TV. And this is what makes us think that the powerful and absolutely exceptional technology used in TVs like Mi TV Lux Transparent Edition could be the future of your idiot box (something that you would dare not call an idiot).

But wait, there is more to the picture. There are much better Transparent Electroluminescent Display (TASEL) TVs that can actually offer more value than even the transparent OLED TVs

So when you think about a transparent TV set like Mi TV Lux Transparent Edition in your home, you could think of all the technical elements like the transparent screen, the powerful audio, the MediaTek processor, the amazing connectivity, and the kind of splendor it brings to your living room. However, do you actually consider it to be the future of TVs?

Here I have brought for you a few pros and cons of these transparent OLED TVs that you ought to know before you actually dream of having it in your home:

Pros of Transparent Electroluminescent Display (TASEL) TVs:

  • Extremely Transparent and Better than LED: Transparent Electroluminescent Display (TASEL) TVs are about 85% transparent as compared to others while transparent LED TVs are about 50% transparent only. LED TVs need a constant light source to give out the display and in lack of it, they display a black screen normally. Plus, they take more power. Against this, Transparent Electroluminescent Display (TASEL) TVs take less power and need no light source for the display.
  • Very Tough Glass That Can be Laminated as Well: When it’s only the glass as the display, it has to be tough enough. For something like Transparent Electroluminescent Display (TASEL) TVs, it has a rugged and inorganic display that stays unaffected by moisture, humidity, shocks, and vibrations etc. For added security, you can put the desired lamination cover over the TV as well. However, some things look better when untouched.
  • Works After a Crack: It’s a glass display and any unbearable pressure may lead to a crack in the glass. But don’t you worry because the OLED transparent TVs can work even after facing a crack (major or minor).
  • 360-Degree View: One of the major advantages of a transparent OLED TV is the ability to see the clearest picture from anywhere around them. If you were to place this TV in the center of a room, people sitting all around it can easily get the view.

Cons of Transparent Electroluminescent Display (TASEL) TVs:

  • Few Color Display Options Only: As of now, Transparent Electroluminescent Display (TASEL) TVs are only available in two display options: Green and Yellow. Plus, they display monochromatic images only.

Just one con? You bet! So while a transparent OLED TV like the Mi TV Lux Transparent Edition might seem to be the future, the better version of Transparent Electroluminescent Display (TASEL) TVs is yet to come and I think this would be something that would lessen the cost of transparent TVs and also offer it much more splendor. What do you think about it?
