Sneak a Peek at the Newest Features of Echo Devices

One of my friends recently bought an Amazon Echo Show 8. This 8” touchscreen device is powered by a MediaTek MT8163 SoC and is actually a good combination of a smart speaker and a tablet at a cost of just $105. And there have been subsequent devices as well, but this smart device looks quite cool for its price.

But this is not the point of this discussion. In fact, while I was looking for this device over the stores, I found some really interesting uses of your Echo Show devices, and if you too have something like Amazon Echo Show 8, you would certainly like these new features:

A Dedicated Netflix App:

Did you know that your Amazon Echo Show device is about to have its dedicated Netflix application as well? That’s right. Till now you could stream only Amazon Prime videos on the device, but after you get Netflix, you just need to shoot a command such as, “Alexa, find the scariest movies on Netflix” and Alexa would oblige.

Tighter Home Security:

You would have an idea about the Amazon Echo Guard that was released some time ago. It is a free home security feature that helps to detect and alert you of noises such as glass breaking or smoke alarm etc. As an upgrade, Amazon is now about to offer Amazon Echo Guard Plus that would cost $5 a month for added security features.

So if you have an Amazon Echo device, it will be vigilant of sounds such as doors opening when you’re not at home. Besides, it can play sounds such as dogs barking to scare the intruders.

And in case you need any further assistance, Alexa can connect you to a 24/7 Emergency Helpline, and you can request medical, fire, or police service even from a remote location.

Music Sharing Feature:

Suppose you are listening to music on your Amazon Echo Show 8 and there comes a song that reminds you of your best friend or any activity that he/she did, sharing a memory with that song, you just need to shoot a command, “Alexa, please send this song to [Person’s Name]”, and the song would be sent in no time.

They can listen to the song on their Echo device or Alexa App whenever they tune in.

More than the Trigger Words:

Alexa is about to turn way smarter than it was in the past. Earlier, if you did not like the name Alexa, you could change it to “Computer” or “Echo” or use some other trigger words to wake up the virtual assistant.

However, with your Amazon Echo devices, now the virtual assistant could be triggered by the noise of your snoring or even your crying baby.

For instance, if you accidentally fall asleep at night and start snoring, Alexa gets triggered by the noise and it not only shuts down the lights but also your TV.

So cool right? You bet! The virtual assistant would also get triggered if your baby wakes up at night and starts crying. Alexa would hear the noise and would switch on the lights for you without even a command.

Take Better Care of Your Loved Ones:

With the upcoming Care Hub Feature for your Eco devices, you can establish a connection between two Alexa accounts of two different houses. With this, if your loved ones need any help, they can just ask Alexa to call you.

Besides, the device could also send alerts when no activity has been detected for a certain time in a day.

So you can say that with a device like Amazon Echo Show 8, things are about to turn far better in the upcoming period.
