OnePlus TV Q1 Pro: The Best Budget Alternative

OnePlus smartphones are doing quite well across the globe. And it’s high time now that we welcome even the OnePlus TVs, which were initially launched in India, a couple of months back, but are ready to enter the US markets as well.

Talking about the OnePlus TVs, the headline might have offered you an impression that they are the cheapest. Not at all! They might be a bit cheaper than the other regular brands, but they surely do not cost just peanuts. So here I would discuss one of the major models in the OnePlus TV series and this is the OnePlus TV Q1 Pro which is said to be a premium model from the brand.

Design and Display:

The OnePlus Q1 Pro TV has a stylish design with very thin bezels and these are barely noticeable. The bottom bezel is slightly thicker and houses the OnePlus logo in the middle. There is a single physical button under the bottom edge on the right side of the TV that turns the TV on or off.

The back of the television has a smooth plastic panel with a carbon fiber pattern and the top portion has a USB-C port that is hidden under a removable panel.

One of the distinguishing features of the Q1 Pro TV is the integrated soundbar. This soundbar automatically slides down every time the TV is switched on and you can see the speakers pop out from the bottom with grille lighting. This looks quite good

The OnePlus TV has a 4K QLED panel that looks pretty good. In fact, the OnePlus Q1 Pro model uses a QLED panel almost similar to LED display than an OLED panel. There is Dolby Vision support baked in as well and you can see a notification turn-up on the corner when watching compatible content. The TV also includes a cinema profile that tones down the contrast and offers the picture a more true-to-life appearance.

Audio:

As I already mentioned in the design section, one of the major features of the Q1 Pro model is the integrated soundbar that makes its way out from the bottom when you switch on the TV.

The hardware packs six drivers on the front, out of which four are woofers and a couple of them are tweeters. It also has two subwoofers on the back. The speakers are placed in a 2.1 channel configuration. The Q1 Pro TV supports Dolby Atmos, Dolby Digital Plus, and DTS-HD audio formats.

So you can say that the audio section of the TV is also pretty aligned as per its display and design.

Software and Performance:

The OnePlus TV is powered by the MediaTek MT5670 processor. This chipset is quad-core in nature and is clocked at 1.5GHz. Three is a tetra-core Mali G-51 GPU that handles the graphics. Besides, the TV has 3GB of RAM support and packs a custom Android TV 9.0 support.

The overall performance of the TV is quite good. Because of the MediaTek SoC, the connectivity and the display are absolutely no issues and you can connect it hassle-free to your home network.

Remote:

OnePlus borrowed the idea of its remote for the OnePlus Q1 TV series from Apple and let me tell you that the design of both these remotes is actually not loved by the users.

The remote for OnePlus Q1 Pro TV has an aluminum build with USB-C charging and three months of battery life. However. the small size and location of the volume buttons in it make no sense at all. This may go down as one of the flaws in the TV setup.

Price:

If you translate the Indian price to USD, the smart TV could drill almost $1300 out of your pockets. However, with a powerful 4K display and good audio section, I think the OnePlus Q1 Pro TV is quite good at its cost and more affordable than the other 4K options for a size of 55”.
