Am I late in reviewing this device? Well, if LG could enter the audio market as late as 2018 with the LG X-Boom AI ThinQ WK7 audio device, I think I am a saint in the matter. And when you look at the features of this X-Boom, you would surely say, “Oh LG, Why did we not meet before?”

However, you still have a chance to buy this powerful audio device from LG that occurs with Google Assistant support and has hordes of other features, ready to fill your room with music at just $200. Let us sneak a peek at the major features of this smart audio device.

LG X-Boom AI ThinQ WK7: Look and Feel

I would not say that this is a new device. The LG X-Boom AI ThinQ WK7 speaker has been existent in the market for almost 2 years now. And talking about its features, the smart speaker features a cylindrical body with its dimensions as 135 x 210.7 x 135 mm. It has a speaker grille wrapping it all around the cylindrical surface in a 360-degree pattern.

As per LG, this speaker was one of the first products to come with built-in Google’s new Android Things platform, and one is able to ask Google for information, get weather reports, place calls, and control other smart home devices too.

Well, this is all past tense now because there are hordes of such devices serving the same functions. However, since this was the first one by LG in the audio section, it was fairly special.

The smart speaker has a flat, circular top surface that carries the volume buttons and a function button. It helps you connect the speaker via both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. There is a button for the microphone on the upper middle side of the speaker.

When you turn the speaker upside-down, you would notice a micro-USB charging port, an input port, and a reset button as well. The design of the LG smart speaker is quite good, but make sure you place it on a good spot and do not carry it your hands too often,

LG X-Boom AI ThinQ WK7: Audio and Other Features

The LG smart speaker is powered by a MediaTek chipset that offers it a fair bit of advantage in terms of internet connectivity and Google Assistant support as well. If you get a quick response from Google Assistant on your query, it’s all because of the powerful MediaTek SoC in the device.

According to LG, the smart audio speaker can play back lossless stereo audio at up to 24-bit/96kHz quality. Also, with 24-bit upsampling, the speaker can convert low-resolution audio to 24-bit high-resolution format.

There is an inbuilt Chromecast feature that can be used to integrate the WK7 into a Google-based multi-room audio system and it can be controlled with the help of voice commands given to Google Assistant. It also supports Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.

LG X-Boom AI ThinQ WK7: Audio Quality

It all comes down to the quality of the sound produced by a speaker, even when it is a smart one, especially drilling a hole of about $200 in your pocket. And believe me, there’s hardly any room of error left by LG when designing this LG X-Boom AI ThinQ WK7 smart speaker.

The speaker has a really good sound output which, on full volume, can fill a large room or a small hall quite nicely. It has a cylindrical design that is meant for 360-degree sound output and it does deliver it. The sound is would not shake the room, but it would definitely fill it well and is soothing to ears, even at the highest and at the lowest as well.

The X-Boom AI ThinQ WK7 has an inbuilt Google Assistant, Chromecast, and Meridian technology. With the help of Meridian technology, the smart speaker aims at offering high-fidelity sound output to music buffs.

No doubt, even when it was launched sometime back, I think this smart speaker from LG is still really good for the users and you can definitely count on it.
