Lenovo 100E Chromebook: The Chromebook in Education
Nowadays, a lot of brands manufacturing digital devices target a specific set of buyers only, and the attention towards delivering digital devices that fit the educational needs of kids is rocketing these days.
We have seen powerful tablets, laptops, and even Chromebooks that are specifically meant for educational purposes, whether used by kids, or the teachers that teach them.
One such product in the category is actually a series of laptops and you can recognize it by the name Lenovo 100E Chromebook. The one I reviewed goes by the model name “81QB000AUS” and it appears a pretty good device. As advertised by Lenovo, you could call it a Chromebook in education because, well, Lenovo says so.
But jokes apart, this Lenovo Chromebook is actually quite good and a very interesting option for the students because of the following features:
Rugged, Portable, and Education-Friendly:
Lenovo 100E Chromebook measures about 0.75 x 11.8 x 8.2 inches (HWD) in size and weighs about 2.64 pounds. In fact, it is quite sleek and lighter than the 4.2-pound Lenovo 300e Chromebook. Made up of sturdy plastic, it has a finely textured lid that is engraved with a Chrome logo and it also has a thin chrome Lenovo logo to the right of the touchpad.
But what makes it a powerful option for the kids is its rugged nature and it can survive a lot of bumps and shocks quite easily. It has a drop-resistant design to offer a good grip to the kids and the splash-resistant keyboard prevents a mini heart attack when the laptop expereinces a sudden shower.
Lit Display, Good Viewing Angle and Spacious Keyboard:
The Chromebook has a 11.6-inch display with 1,366 x 768 pixels display resolution that’s quite clear and bright once you stick to the top three or four backlight settings, and if viewing it directly, you’ll surely see crisp detail with lively colors. The display is actually quite good and never puts too much pressure on the eyes of the kids.
Besides, you can view and show the display in any suitable angle with its 180-degree turn feature. The display and the keyboard could be absolutely straightened if needed.
Even the keyboard of the device is quite good and spacious and never crams you in terms of space. I would say that it is even good for those who need the keyboard for a majority of their work.
Powerful Performance and Long battery life:
The Chromebook 100E features a MediaTek MT8173C SoC that is clocked at 2.1Ghz and is a dual-core CPU with Intel HD integrated graphics 4GB of memory and 16GB eMMC flash storage.
As far as the connectivity is concerned, the device has a USB Type-C port that can be used for charging and a USB 3.0 port. Plus, it features a mic/headphone combo, with an HDMI port alongside an SD card reader.
Wireless connectivity is perhaps one of the most important aspects of a Chromebook and Lenovo Chromebook 100E features dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11AC and Bluetooth 4.2 connectivity. It also contains a 720p webcam and microphone, just above the display that is good enough for video chats and Skype calls. Though the sound quality is not that appropriate, but for kids’ needs, I think it would do well.
The battery in the device is perhaps one of its highlights. It contains a powerful battery backup that lasts up too 10 hours and this is great.
With a cost of about $288, this pretty Chromebook has been a great seller over the year 2020 and perhaps could continue its amazing run.
