How often do you please your kids by getting them their favorite toys? Probably a lot! And here’s a thing that Amazon specifically brought for the kids, but this is not a toy. In fact, this is an interesting lamp that emits wonderful lights and is sure to please your kids in their room.

Amazon Echo Glow was launched in the last quarter of 2019 and if you look at only the lamp, you may not find something very new. You may have seen a lot of such lamps in the market. However, since it heralds from the house of Amazon, it has to be smart. And the smart feature in Amazon Echo Glow is its voice control feature.

Let us know a bit more about this amazing kids-special Amazon Echo Glow and how it works. I bet you would find it very interesting:

Look and Feel:

Amazon Echo Glow measures about 3.9 inches in diameter and is roughly the size of a softball with a flat bottom that allows you to rest the lamp on a desk or a tabletop. Weighing about 8.6 ounces, Amazon Echo Glow feels light on hands but is sturdy enough to survive a small fall. You may try it dropping even a few times from about two feet onto a tiled floor and the illuminated globe will bounce away without suffering any noticeable damage.

However, this is definitely not a tennis ball, and you should not experiment dropping it down from a couple of floors. It contains an integrated power cord that is about 5-foot long, terminating in a USB Type-A plug and emerges from the back of the Amazon Echo Glow’s base. The setup also contains a matching USB power adapter.

The only physical control on Amazon Echo Glow is the Action button that resides above the power cord and it serves only as a power on/off button. However, when connected to an Echo speaker, it can serve a variety of functions such as switching off an alarm or assisting in a Wi-Fi setup.

Functionality and Performance:

Amazon Echo Glow is powered by a MediaTek SoC and this is what controls the voice control features in the devices. And you would be most interested in what it does.

Well, you need to tap the globe to change its colors or tap it multiple times to see the entire range of 16 shades. The most interesting option is by using voice commands, but you’ll need to do it with an Echo device, Alexa mobile app, or any other voice-assisted device.

When you set it up with Amazon Alexa, you can ask her to turn it on and off, of course, change its color, adjust its brightness, and change its lighting mode as well. There is a wide range of lighting modes available ranging from campfire to color flow to mood light and underwater, along with holiday theme lights such as Christmas, Hanukkah, and Kwanzaa.

You can also get crafty with the Rainbow Timer feature that displays the colors of the rainbow one by one, before displaying a bright white at the end of the timer and an audible alarm. You can also set up a wake-up timer that makes the device’s light gradually increase until it goes up to 100 percent.

Not to forget, you can set distinct modes for different times of the day or turn it on or off in association with a motion sensor.

And with all these features, the cost of the device is barely $30, close to any smart Toy that you would offer your kids. This is certainly one of the best things to offer your kids and even those kid-like adults.
